STEP 1

Divorce Law Info aims to provide men and women with relevant and practical information on the wide ranging issues surrounding the legal and financial complexities of marital breakdown and divorce. With the benefit of this information at the pre-divorce stage, people are able to make informed decisions on fundamental family issues which accompany a marital breakdown and make the necessary practical preparations.

The key elements of the service include the following:

bullet

a consultation on a confidential one-to-one basis with an objective and experienced matrimonial consultant, Sheela Mackintosh, who is not currently a practising solicitor and does not operate from within a law firm;

bulleta 'birds eye view' or a 'map' of what divorce entails with a discussion of the options, and general information on the issues relating to aspects of marital breakdown and divorce.

This includes the identification of the main legal issues:  grounds for divorce, financial settlement issues, and access to and custody of children.   It also provides a private forum for individuals to discuss general questions relating to divorce which they may not be able to discuss with family or friends.

STEP 2

If divorce is decided upon as the route forward, Divorce Law Info offers a second consultation providing further practical and relevant information including the following:

bullet

emphasis on minimizing the legal costs of divorce;

bullet

a solicitors referral service to solicitors who can provide legal advice and services;

bullet a directory of useful addresses and telephone numbers and other relevant information.

IMPORTANT

Please note that the information provided by Sheela Mackintosh/Divorce Law Info does not constitute legal advice. For specific legal advice and services connected with your particular case, you must consult and seek legal advice from a solicitor as every divorce is based upon different facts.
